eApps Hosting offers an economical Load Balancer service as a standard offering. The service is implemented using the Coyotepoint Equalizer, a hardware appliance that manages Apache sessions. This appliance is used to manage and control user sessions to a cluster of VPS containers for your application. If one of the VPS containers is not available, the Coyotepoint Equalizer will automatically balance the user sessions among the remaining active VPS containers. To add more capacity for your application, we can quickly add another VPS container to the cluster. The form of "horizontal scaling" can be deployed quickly and is cost effective.
Features of eApps Load Balancer Service
Our Load Balancer service is designed for supporting a cluster of any service that is available on your VPS service. Load balancing on Apache is the most common choice, but the CoyotePoint Equalizer can easily be configured for other services. This is a standard service that does not require customization. You will have the ability to choose from several options in the configuration. Our standard Load Balancer service has the following features:
- Round Robin Balancing - Traffic is balanced among the VPS containers in your cluster in sequence. If a VPS container fails, it will be dropped from the cluster until it becomes available again.
- Multiple Clusters - If your application requires that multiple services must be balanced among the VPS containers in your Cluster, this can be done for no extra charge for up to three services.
- Server Agent Balancing - the load balancer will listen to a specified port and balance the traffic based on a value that is set.
- Static Weightet Balancing - a fixed allocation is set for each VPS container in the cluster
- Encryption - traffic can also be encrypted by the CoyotePoint Equalizer device, rather than by your VPS container.
