Virtual Private Network (VPN) – A VPN is an encrypted communication channel between specific laptops or desktops and your eApps server. A VPN is very powerful because it allows you to access the server over a secure channel. One of the most common uses of a VPN is to enable multiple people in your organization to share access to a common file directory. Other uses include securing your inter-company mail or Intranet site or establishing a secure channel with your customers or suppliers. Our VPN service is available with Advanced and higher plans. As part of the service we connect your eApps server to one remote computer. Assistance is available to connect other remote computers to your VPN as well as provide general help in using the service.
Secure Socket Layers (SSL) – SSL is used to encrypt traffic between general web site visitors and your eApps server. We sell a variety of SSL certificates from Thawte and Verisign, the leader SSL certificate vendors. Installation is included for all certificates purchased from eApps. We also can assist you in other ways. We can create a self signed certificate for you. These are good for internal use or for testing. We can also help you install certificates on specific applications that are running on your eApps server, such as FTP or a third party application that has been installed.
Secure Mail using Transport Layer Security (TLS) and SSL – The security of your eApps mail service can be enhanced using TLS, a protocol that guarantees privacy and data integrity between client/server applications communicating over the Internet. This security feature will encrypt SMTP traffic. SSL can be used to secure WebMail and IMAP traffic.
IP Tables and Firewall Services – all eApps VPSs are protected by a general firewall. You can also purchase our custom firewall service as an option. This allows you to open or close ports and/or IP addresses. We can also help you lock down your VPS service using the built in IP Tables. Other security protection services can be implemented to harden your VPS further.
Security/Hack Audit – The eApps Network Operations department scans our network and VPS servers as part of our standard operating procedures. However, it is often important to have independent third party verification of the security of your environment. eApps has partnered with a leading provider of security scanning services. As an optional service they will scan your VPS and provide you with a trusted proof logo to display on your site.
